Elon Musk promised investors that he would reduce the Twitter staff by 75%. Is it genuine, or is it a scam?

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and the richest man in the world, reportedly promised investors that if his $44 billion takeover attempt of the social media giant was successful, he would reduce Twitter’s workforce by 75%.

However, some industry experts believe Musk’s threat to wield the ax at that level was a ruse to entice investing partners and that, practically speaking, reducing Twitter’s staff by that amount would leave the company in shambles. Twitter is said to have already had its own staff reductions planned before Musk’s announcement this spring that he intended to buy the company.

Why would Musk vow to significantly reduce Twitter’s workforce?
According to the Post, Musk informed potential investors in his bid to purchase the firm that he intended to fire up to 75% of Twitter’s 7,500 employees, leaving the company with a skeleton staff of just over 2,000.

Before news of the Musk agreement broke, business officials hinted at intentions to slash Twitter’s operational budget by around $800 million and workforce by about 25%. Twitter has failed to grow to the size and revenues obtained by other significant social media platforms. However, analysts warn that while Musk’s proposed personnel reductions for Twitter may appeal to potential investors, they might leave the firm in ruins.
